Bluegill Population Demographics as Related to Abiotic and Biotic Factors in Florida Lakes

چکیده

Research on Bluegills, Lepomis macrochirus R., is abundant but typically focuses water bodies with similar environmental conditions. We assessed Bluegill density, relative abundance (catch per unit effort [CPUE] by electrofishing), growth, and size structure in 60 lakes wide-ranging surface areas (2–12,412 ha), trophic states (oligotrophic–hypereutrophic), macrophyte abundances (0.3–100 percent of lake volume inhabited [PVI]) across Florida, USA. density CPUE increased productivity decreased abundance. growth stock-length Florida Bass, Micropterus floridanus L., a predator. density. Results indicate that fisheries individuals quality (≥150 mm) require productive (>25 μg/L chlorophyll-a concentration) moderate to high coverage (PVI 50–100), Bass (>40 fish/h densities <300 fish/ha. This study provides an approach predict population demographics based abiotic biotic factors, establish management expectations, develop regional lake-specific tools.

Effect of Abiotic Factors on Bluegill Size Structure in Nine Central Minnesota Lakes

Bluegill are the most targeted species of fish in Minnesota. In recent years, the abundance of slow growing, small Bluegill has increased within the state. Angler harvest of Bluegill can reduce the average length of Bluegill up to four times the original length. Abiotic factors such as maximum depth, average water clarity, littoral area, and percent littoral area can influence the dynamics of a...

Relationships between advance oak regeneration and biotic and abiotic factors.

Relationships between advance regeneration of four tree species (red maple (Acer rubrum L.), white oak (Quercus alba L.), chestnut oak (Q. montana Willd.) and northern red oak (Q. rubra L.)) and biotic (non-tree vegetation and canopy composition) and abiotic (soil series and topographic variables) factors were investigated in 52, mature mixed-oak stands in the central Appalachians. Aggregate he...

Population of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in semi-arid environment of Jordan as influenced by biotic and abiotic factors

This study was conducted to evaluate the population of the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in the semi-rid agro-ecosystem of North Jordan and to evaluate the effect of the biotic and abiotic factors on AMF population. Soil samples were collected from 12 locations where several soil samples were collected from each location. The collected soil samples were analysed for chemical and physical p...

Biotic and abiotic factors predicting the global distribution and population density of an invasive large mammal

Biotic and abiotic factors are increasingly acknowledged to synergistically shape broad-scale species distributions. However, the relative importance of biotic and abiotic factors in predicting species distributions is unclear. In particular, biotic factors, such as predation and vegetation, including those resulting from anthropogenic land-use change, are underrepresented in species distributi...

Abiotic and biotic stress combinations.

Environmental stress conditions such as drought, heat, salinity, cold, or pathogen infection can have a devastating impact on plant growth and yield under field conditions. Nevertheless, the effects of these stresses on plants are typically being studied under controlled growth conditions in the laboratory. The field environment is very different from the controlled conditions used in laborator...
